FAQs

+ Is this a standalone credit repair service? +

No, This service is designed to be used together with your DIY credit software. You take all actions yourself using the software. We provide guidance, strategy, and clarification when needed.

The Email Advisory Service is optional and not a required purchase.

+ What exactly does this advisory service do? +

We review your questions, documents, and situations and provide professional guidance by email. This may include explaining creditor responses, suggesting next steps, or helping you choose the right approach—but we do not perform credit repair for you.

+ Will you contact creditors, credit bureaus, or send disputes for me? +

No, This is an advisory-only service. We do not contact creditors, credit bureaus, or third parties, and we do not send disputes on your behalf.

+ How does payment work? +

This service works similarly to an attorney retainer.

You prepay advisory funds at $50 per hour, and your balance is reduced as work is completed. You can add more funds at any time.

In simple terms:
You fund your account first, and we bill against that balance as advisory work is performed.

+ How is time billed? +

Time is billed in 6-minute (0.1 hour) increments. You are charged only for the actual time spent reviewing your request and preparing your response.

Example:

  • A 12-minute response = 0.2hours = $10
  • A 6-minute response = 0.1 hour = $5
+ Will I be able to see how my balance is used? +

Yes. Each advisory response will clearly show:

  • Time spent
  • Amount deducted
  • Remaining prepaid balance
+ Can you show a simple billing example? +

Yes. Here is an example of how a prepaid balance is applied:

Prepaid balance added: $50.00
Advisor response (0.2 hrs): −$10.00 → Remaining balance: $40.00
Document review (0.1 hrs): −$5.00 → Remaining balance: $35.00

+ What does this service usually cost? +

Typical advisory usage looks like this:

  • Quick question or clarification: $5–$10
  • Reviewing a creditor or bureau response: $5–$15
  • Multi-account or strategy guidance: $20–$30

Actual cost depends on the complexity of your request.

+ Can I send multiple questions in one email? +

Yes, However, multiple or complex questions usually require more review time and will be billed accordingly. Combining multiple topics into one email does not reduce the time required.

+ What if my question takes longer than expected? +

If a request requires additional review time, your prepaid balance will be applied accordingly. If your balance runs out, you may be asked to add funds before further work continues.

+ How quickly will I receive a response? +

Most inquiries are answered within 1 business day, excluding weekends and holidays. More complex matters may require additional time.

+ Do unused funds expire? +

No. Any unused balance remains available for future advisory requests.

+ Do you offer phone calls or meetings? +

No, This is an email-only advisory service. Email allows for clear documentation, focused responses, and predictable billing.

+ Can you guarantee results or credit score improvements? +

No. Credit outcomes depend on many factors outside our control. We provide guidance and strategy, but we do not guarantee deletions, score increases, or specific results.

+ Are advisory fees refundable? +

Advisory fees function like a professional retainer. Once time has been used, it is non-refundable.

IMPORTANT: Fix Your Own Credit is not a credit repair service organization. We do not claim to fix your credit as we are a self-help software.

You have a right to dispute inaccurate information in your credit report by contacting the credit bureau directly. However, neither you nor a credit repair company or credit repair organization has the right to have accurate, current and verifiable information removed from your credit report. The credit bureau must remove accurate, negative information from your report only if it is over 7 years old. Bankruptcy information can be reported up to 10 years. Credit bureaus are required to follow reasonable procedures to ensure that the information they report is accurate. However, mistakes may occur. You may, on your own, notify a credit bureau in writing that you dispute that accuracy of information in your credit file. The credit bureau must then reinvestigate and modify or remove inaccurate or incomplete information. The credit bureau may not charge any fee for this service. Any pertinent information and copies of all documents you have concerning an error should be given to the credit bureau. If the credit bureau's reinvestigation does not resolve the dispute to your satisfaction, you may send a brief statement to the credit bureau to be kept in your file, explaining why you think the record is inaccurate. The credit bureau must include a summary of your statement about disputed information with any report it issues about you.
